Tabletop Clock

                                                                           

                                                                            
 How many of those kitchen tables with the white legs- natural tops have you seen? I have seen them in thrift stores and on the side of the road headed to the landfill. Well the ones on the side of the road I pick up.
  They get used for different things around here, shortened legs for coffee tables, restained, repainted.


 Sometime ago I was in Goodwill and I saw a still sealed wall clock rub on. It was 3.00, my daughter fell in love with it, so we bought it.  Once I got it home it was one of those rub on not the reusable vinyl. It was pretty large, but I did not want to put it directly on the wall so I kept saying I will go get some wood from Lowes and we would out it on that, never happened, it was put away, out of sight out of mind.
 One day I was in my shed and I looked over and I had a tabletop to one of those tables just leaning against some other boards and finally the light bulb went off in my head, I could not get it in the house fast enough.
 My daughters room decor is done in beachy decor, she loves it, I love it, I tell her I feel like I'm on vacation when I am in her room.  She was with her Grandparents for the day and I wanted to surprise her.
 I used 2 1x4s that I had on hand to brace across the back, because this top was pretty heavy.
I got out my paints from my stockpile and decided on the bright green, (got to love Lowes oops paint), Idea was to look like a old beach cabana stripes, or beach towel, measured and marked the stripes and then painted the stripes, I was in love with this project!  Barely after it dried I sanded over it to let some of the wood show through . Layed out the clock and numbers and used the popsicle stick that came in the package and rub it all on.  Used some heavy duty wire on the top brace for hanging.

The space under the clock I left blank in case we find a vinyl saying that we like.

Trash to Treasure

    I am one of those crazy people who stop for good items on the side of the road.
 It's crazy some of the things that people throw away, perfectly good items also.    Btw, my husband just shakes his head at my findings.
  The other day I passed a living room set, normally I really pass these up, but I thought I saw something, so I turned around to take a better look. Sure enough sitting beside this dumpster was a chaise lounge.
                                              

Before

You can't see in the photo, but someone had used the cushion as a ironing board, it had iron marks all over it. The rest of the fabric still looked and felt brand new.

It had round bun feet, which were in great shape but I wanted to change them out with some others that I had.

I took the cushion and reupholstered it in some tan suede like fabric I had in my stash.

It has become the favorite seat in our family room.

The feet I put on it made it a little higher, but I like that.

Now onto sewing the new curtains!

Use any yarn from stash

Leave a 4-6in tail when you tie on, ch 62, fasten off leaving a 4-6in tail.

Tie the two tails together, forming a circle, a chain necklace is complete.

Embellish with buttons, crochet flowers etc..
